Seminar Topic: Robotic Surgery: Where does it fit in the surgical armamentarium for procedures

Surgery is a complex endeavor that requires a complex environment to perform safely. Modern surgery can be performed using a multitude of operative techniques from the "open" surgical approach to more minimal access techniques. What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of these techniques and how are they chosen. What are some of the technical challenges of each of the techniques and what opportunities are there to overcome them.
